The Chugach Bracelets Inspiration: The Chugach Mountains are Southcentral Alaska’s playground.  At 250 miles long and 60 miles wide, there’s plenty of options to get outdoors.  The Chugach Mountains span an area that is about the same size as Switzerland.  

Chugach State Park is one of the largest state parks in the nation.  To the east of that, Chugach National Forest is the second-largest national forest in the U.S.  Together they comprise more than 9,000 square miles of hiking, rafting, biking, ATVing, kayaking, and fishing.  The most frequently climbed mountain in Alaska, most popular trailheads, and more than 60 of the state’s most accessible glaciers are all found in the Chugach.  

The rocks composing the mountains in the Chugach are largely metamorphic, and heavily carved by glaciation. They tend to take on the classic upside-down 'V' shaped ridge-lines.

We created the Chugach bracelet set because we look out of the front windows of our house and look directly at the Chugach Mountains to our south.  We see the glacier carved peaks of dark granite and the trees, so many beautiful trees, that cover the lower portions of the mountains.  We have been blessed to live in the Chugach Mountains twice, and it is a favorite location for us. 

The black beads of the two beaded bracelets represent the dark mountain peaks that are so prevalent in the Chugach.  While the Tiger Eye and Woodlace Stone in both bracelets each represents the Chugach State Park and Chugach National Forest.  The black hand-braided leather bracelet is reminiscent of the glacier carved valleys and steep cliffs that you’ll find in the Chugach.
